Because your abusive wife won't change her stance and despite your instance, you are enabling the abuse and adding more neglect to the trauma your daughter is suffering.
What have you done to stand up for your daughter? What consequences have you presented to that abuser who is hurting your child? Not that it matters. You don't sound like you'd hold her to those consequences.
Your wife will “care” when you don't solve this and give her a “real” child… And scream “because I'm your stepmother!” when the time to parentify your daughter for free babysitting arrives.
On the bright side, you'll be lucky if your daughter goes NC when's she 18, instead of sooner. So only a decade of keeping her trapped in the cycle and teaching either 1) her feelings do not matter or 2) people are allowed to abuse her. (Keep a reeeeal close eye on that first boyfriend!)
