A healthy relationship is an honest relationship. This stuff only builds resentment in relationships without one partner realizing and soon little sruoifthings in the relationship start ending in fights and noone sees why.
As I mentioned above, my bf has allergies and would have to take allergy shots to have a dog in the house. We are also out a lot as we both have jobs in the media industry. I looked into fostering this year and last year, but ultimately we couldn’t because we aren’t in the house enough and it would be a lot for my bf to go through allergy shots just to foster.
It’s a totally valid reason. If you are comfortable with them knowing, just say “hey, I have a lot of trauma from a previous abusive relationship where I was forced to say “I love you” a lot and it’s just really hard for me to verbally say it to others, even if I mean it, which I do with you guys. I just can’t say it out loud. I’m working on it, but this is the response I can provide for now. I hope you understand.”
