I completely agree. I think therapy would help as it seems like you have a lot of love and need more of a support system.
I have unfortunately had so many conversations about this and I understand that I don't win against 8 years of manipulation. Jesse thinks that Thomas's boundary does not affect us at all. Jesse goes back on his word and his thoughts, consistently. I love Jesse and if his circle gets any smaller, it only leaves him more susceptible to Thomas's behavior.
Yet, simultaneously, if this boundary continues to exist as normal then it leaves me susceptible to abuse from my own partner. Who I know could never mean it, does not mean it, but is fiercely loyal to someone who would never give us the same chances we have given him.
You should have seen this coming a mile away when he started negging his wife to you and saying how you were sooooo much better than her. Next time, your remember to say “I am not comfortable with you comparing me to your wife, please stop that. I wouldn’t want my husband behaving like you behind my back”.
