It's possible that she's picking up on your controlling undercurrent and doesn't WANT you giving her money. If it wasn't explicitly stated that selling nudes was not OK (since it sounds like she has a known history of doing stuff like that to make ends meet), then quite likely she wanted to solve the money issue herself and not be additionally indebted to or controlled by you.
