He's been living with them his entire life. Obviously he's way more comfortable with them than you are. And I agree it's a major concern that if/when you do actually move together on your own, he will have no life skills on how to live independently. Have you brought up that specific concern to him?
He might never. Drawing boundaries with parents is super hard. I cared for my mother for a very large part of my life and failed to draw boundaries miserably, to the point of burnout. She had cancer and was my mother, thus everything else, including my own health, took a back seat. It was only after her death and with tons of therapy, I realised just how damaging everyone’s behaviour, including my own, had been.
He likely craves privacy too, but it won’t even remotely take on the importance of caring for his mother and making her comfortable and neither do your needs.
