I actually like them for the most part. They're not bad people when we see them every month or so they're just overbearing. I know for a fact I never want to live with them though. It is a dealbreaker for me and I told her that and we just had a big fight with no conclusion. I just dont know at what point do I stop trying to change her mind and just accept that the relationship is now incompatible. It really sucks
I would also like to add from prior bad financial experience in my dating life and what I've seen other people deal with: if there are any accounts which she has access to with your card number on it then that is another great reason to have your card canceled. A coworker let a student use her laptop, he went shopping on a commonly visited website, he put in her payment method, and bought about $800 worth of items on her account a few years ago.
You're definitely just normalizing men being possessive over inconsequential shit.
Let's maybe not say that most men are that way? Because it excuses this kind of behavior from jealous bfs (or partners in general) and instead encourage people to build trust in their relationships.
My bf has had multiple situations living with a young woman. I could not care less. He prefers it because he's very clean and women tend to be tidier. I recognize his ability to be friends with women without trying to fuck them. It is gasp shockingly possible to have friends of the opposite gender and not be opening to door to hanky panky

What you describe is not being 'smart' about finances. What you describe WILL become more and more pronounced (think using candles as lights, eating canned food straight from the can without warming it, etc.). If he is already this miserly it will not be a comfortable future.
