I'm sorry for all that she's been through and the stress you're feeling now bc of this guy attempting to reconnect. I am surprised that she would really want to see him again. I would think she would have him blocked on all socials etc. If she were to go, I would find some sort of arrangement like them going to a coffee shop etc. I would also try to hear why she's so interested in seeing him. I wouldn't want to see or reconect w someone that put me through all that. Life isn't always like the movies, you don't always need closure. She's given herself closure by being sober and doing well. Have a real heart to heart and see if she can be swayed. It might not be for the best for them to reconnect but ofc it would be difficult to stop her/persuade her not to without it being a controlling situation in her mind.
Luckily I'm not. I felt your story as a warning not to go through with some relationships because I feel there's some unresolved feelings on the other side. I don't wanna deal with them in a decade. I wish you best of luck.
Honestly, let him try. This is why you need to speak to your landlord and get some legal counsel ahead of time. With them on your side, there isn't much he can do.
Squatters rights don't apply to non-vacant properties, and rehatdless, the statute to invoke squatters rights in Utah seems to be 7 years.
He's not on your lease, he has no claim to the property and only has a verbal agreement with you. The only thing he could really do is try to manipulate you. If you just stick to your deadline, use the lease and your landlord/changing the locks, etc… to your advantage he really doesn't have any power here
There are certain lies that you’re just expected to tell so you don’t hurt the people you care about. When your gf asks if your ex was prettier, when your mom asks if her new dress makes her look fat, when your mother in law asks if you liked the dinner she made: you say something nice, even if it’s not the truth. It’s just the way it is.
NTA. I don't think she's jealous or dumb, more like manipulative. She didn't believe OP was going to receive that much, for real. Now that he has, she's laying the woe is me, ground work. “It's not fair you got an extra 2k, and I have to actually save money.” Willing to bet, it comes down to, if you love me, you'd help pay, at least half of my trip. Please provide an update OP.

He threw a tantrum because she wouldn't give him food from her fork.
He sounds like an asshole.

Just wait until you have kids. You won't be a doctor then. You'll be mommy and he'll be big business man.
