I think the issue here about the museum visit, is that its during his working week, and they work together, i think he probably does have an emotional attachment and she is his best friend really, but she is married too, if it was a man he was doing these things with, it wouldn't be an issue, the downvotes though, he should stop digging !!
On two past occasions, i've had an emotional attachment to women i worked with for long periods, it was never anything physical, but you know what, when they were feeling very down, or just wanted a different perspective, and vice versa we were there for each other, my wife never suspected anything and i didn't consider it cheating in anyway, and neither did they, one of them actually said to me, “i wish my husband was more like you”, and i nearly said it back, just in that moment, Then she said “oh my god, that sounds so cringey, its more he's just and asshole a lot of the time”, but i actually didn't want that, because my wife is a different type of person to her, and i actually noticed on reflection, that what i had was a healthy platonic friendship and she was in a poor marriage, she didn't actually fancy me, and i didn't fancy her, but i'd have probably been super attracted to her personality if we met in different circumstances.
And its hard for men especially to find good friends that they can connect with on an emotional level, and its easy to push that boundry too far. And for women the same, maybe he's someone that actually hears her and makes her comfortable.
