So from what I can understand, she sees it as if you “leveraged your old company (which is like family), to get a larger offer from the new company”.
I mean, to be fair, if your old company could offer you even more, you would have stayed right? It was just that in the end they couldn't afford your services and the new company thought you were more valuable than your old company.
Would it be possible to reframe it as “my old company was downplaying my worth this entire time.”? It sucks that you're being frame as the “bad guy”.
