My mother has adapted well. She is always happy when her children accomplish something and move forward in life. She was emotional when my sister announced she was moving out, but in a good way.
My father, on the other hand, was quite depressed. He was also emotional, but I think in a different way than my mother. Thus the empty nest syndrome I mentioned in my post. He and my sister argued occasionally and had verbal discussions daily. For their relationship, I think it was good that my sister left home. But I don't think my father has found peace in it, at least not yet.
What's her place like compared to yours?
She and her boyfriend wanted to “test” whether living together would improve their relationship since it was also rather strained. So now they have a rental house. The house is very small compared to the one my girlfriend and I own now (I think our living room and kitchen together are as big as their whole house). This is not necessarily a bad thing, but their house is a bit more geared towards a “starter” budget. Plus, we have an owner-occupied home.

My boyfriend is a massive comic book fan, and he loves dressing up as his favorite superheroes for various events like comic conventions and costume parties. Lately, he's become passionate about the idea of wearing an outfit inspired by his favorite superhero to my sister's wedding. He thinks it'll be a fun, unique way to express his personality.
I'm concerned that his attire might be seen as inappropriate or disrespectful at a formal event like a wedding. I've tried discussing my concerns with him, but he believes that as long as he's wearing a suit, incorporating a few superhero elements shouldn't be an issue.
