4. There's a lot of “I” in here. You need to figure out how to change that to “we”. Maybe even couples therapy.

   You're both young, and I think it would really, really benefit you both, your relationship, and any future children you have, if you went to couples therapy. It might be able to give you tools to communicate and teach you both a few things that a lot of others only really learn later in life. Like standing up for your needs and wants.

   You'll also both be able to hash out any issues that you might not even realise are present, and it will hopefully reveal if he's someone you should be having a child with anyway.

6. ADD is an outdated disorder and has been replaced by ADHD. None of those diagnoses justify his abuse to the dog. It’s an excuse to take out his anger.

   If your worry for your dog isn’t enough, think about the long term. How confident are you that he wouldn’t snap on you? I grew up in a household with domestic violence. My mom was certain her bf would never hit me, and it may have taken a few years but one night he tried to kill me. She also thought he’d treat his kid they had together well and now my little sibling has complex ptsd from severe emotional abuse.

   If you two ever decided to have kids, could you be confident he wouldn’t snap on your child?

   He needs to get evaluated for medication, get in therapy, and take anger management classes. If he doesn’t, walk and take the dog with you.
