To be fair, she has had a tough life, has been on her own since 13, and had some rough relationships with parents and significant others. I think that is a big part of it. I also try to see the good in people and am too optimistic most of the time.

The thing is, OP having a relationship with his father doesn't actually affect the mother. Especially since OP is an adult. My guess is that she wants OP to cut his dad off to spite him. She doesn't have to be involved in their relationship.

Yeah your situation with your partner seems very similar. Our dates never felt like they ran longer either wanted.
This week I had time off work and realised that me and her spend spend half of her weekend (her only real social time) with me (Sunday afternoon/evenings she likes to get ready for her work week)
