   I think you have been given the best advice possible regarding therapists and that but I just want to add that I know it makes it easier to believe that you could have saved your younger son if only you'd done xyz differently, but you cannot blame yourselves for his death. You did absolutely all you could. I am so sorry that it wasn't enough. But you didn't do anything wrong to cause it. Please work towards believing that, I know you probably can't at the moment. I know there not being an alternative is harder to accept than letting yourselves take the blame. But you have to let go of the guilt, neither of you are at fault.

   Are you handling the grief well? I can't say, but I can say that it would be very fucking weird if you weren't both messes at the moment, 18months is nothing in grief terms. Mind yourselves. Give each other grace. Better days will come, I promise.

3. Why would you ever date someone who fundamentally does not want the same things as you? He responsibly told you his stance from the start and you entered into this relationship armed with that information.

   It is incredibly unfair. He was firm about not wanting pets and still compromised and you moved in with the dog you already have. If you knew you were going to want more pets in the future you should have also been honest, responsible, and forthcoming about it.

   It’s OKAY to deeply love pets and want more. It’s OKAY for him to not want them. It’s not okay for you to try and force the issue.
