I have found once found a hair that obviously wasn't mine stuck in a rug or something and I definitely did not jump to accusing my BF of infidelity/cheating (as I am secure in the relationship and fully trust him). My husband and I had the legal bit in our home country, and then we had the cultural ceremony in his parents' home country…. only one of my friends could attend… and that was okay for me. My husband was happy, he got to celebrate with his whole family, we made great memories.

You don't really need to bring up your friends on the first few dates at all. Obsessively talking about your best friend, your guy best friend, your ex, your cat, etc in the “getting to know you” stage of dating is going to be a turn off. I don't know which of these scenarios are taking place, because your post is a little light on info. So your two options are either date better guys, or stop nattering on about your guy best friend.

As part of my job I track IPV homicides. One case that still sticks out to me is a woman whose boyfriend assaulted, strangled, and threatened to kill her. Police were called. They gave them both a breathalyzer test, and arrested both her and her boyfriend. Her criminalization negatively impacted her financially and socially, which we also know are huge barriers to being able to leave an abusive relationship.
Five years later, her boyfriend brutally murdered her. And that's far from the only case like this.
I don't think the black-and-white framework of “Report them and they'll be fired and you'll receive justice” helps anyone. I really wish we would stop perpetuating it, and instead be realistic about all possibilities. I appreciate you calling this out.

I would go absolutely fucking berserk if someone called my mother to fucking tattle on me when I was arguing with them. Absolutely deranged behaviour from this boy child.
He wouldn’t ever see me again if he then completely disregarded my mother’s set boundary and told her to pick me up. Because you bet your ass my mother would tell me in the car (because she would pick me up, for my safety, not because he called her) that she reckons I can let him go on his merry way, far from me.
