But the thing with Autism, many struggle with codependent issues in communication. Maybe actually, if you speak to those on Reddit, have a fear of opening up and stating needs. They are adults trapped in a childlike fear on speaking their needs.
Hence why many with higher support needs struggle to openly talk about things because many, if you talk to them, grew up in households where their needs were 100% ignored by their care givers. Maybe have PTSD due to this as well because it was that bad.

People in relationships don’t comfort people who aren’t their SO’s that way. It’s too intimate to rub someone’s leg, kiss their forehead, etc. If I had to guess, it seems like at a minimum he’s crushing on your friend. Beyond that I don’t want to speculate further. You need to talk to him and/or decide if you’re comfy with him treating someone who isn’t you this way. If you’re not and he’s not willing to be honest with you, that’s grounds to break it off.
