You asked how going to the club is different than a bar, as far as “hookup culture” goes. Let me just say, us dudes, sure — we can look forward to going to the club to drink and hang with friends. But for, at least me and my friends — we mostly looked forward to the club / raves to dance with chicks (do they call them “chicks” nowadays? IDK I'm old).

We'd used to get drunk / take ecstacy, and hit on / dance with chicks all night. I have had a total of two one-night stands, which is a low number compared to a couple of my other friends. I was big on ecstacy, as I'm usually more withdrawn and introverted IRL, but put on on X and whooo boy am I a totally different person — not afraid of talking to people and connecting. Trust me when I say, I've danced with and felt up on my fair share of women when I'd go clubbing in my 20's — it was fun and addicting as hell.

At bars, this was not the case. Me and my friends would go to bars looking to drink and play pool / other bar games and eat. Dancing with girls wasn't something we'd go to a bar looking to do, besides, girls at clubs are dancing, usually more skimpily dressed, and with the loud music + overall vibe of lights and so many people dancing, it is 100% different on many levels.

I'm just being frank with you. Clubs and bars are not the same. OK, now back to my rocking chair. Whatever you choose to do, be safe, and if you are genuinely in love with your BF, he has nothing to worry about if you go. You're a big girl. Make your own decisions.
