You need to be forward and direct. Tell him that you two don't align in your future and you need to find someone who can provide you with what you want and what you need. It doesn't have to be super drawn out. You both know you're not compatible. Just be honest and open about it.
His behavior is frightening. You can raise him and your kid or you can just raise your kid.
So first leave his misogynistic arse.
As for dressing better.
Do it in steps. Find a few friends who you trust to give honest, critical feedback, and go through your wardrobe. Put away anything that doesn’t match your new idea for yourself. (You will eventually throw these out, but while you are getting comfortable with your new look, you might want to mix and match, or do day on day off) Then go shopping – thrift stores etc are awesome for this if you have a good one near you, as you can get a variety of clothes for minimal cost.
Then wear your new look, start just wearing it around home, or with your friends, then go out, even if it’s just to the store for some groceries. And slowly build yourself up so that you feel empowered and amazing so that you always wear your new look.
And when you are feeling empowered and awesome, then go treat yourself to some new clothes, get good quality, and maybe even a few statement pieces from some brands that you like.
