In canada it’s very possible to stay after graduation with a post graduation work permit if you gained a degree from a local post-secondary degree. Many of my friends have done this
You can break up for any reason or none at all. There doesn’t have to be some big huge blowup, sometimes it’s just not a good fit.
Once you realize it’s not a good fit, it’s unfair to let things drag on and waste the other person’s time as well as your own.
