I think you’re missing the point: she is not responsible for OP’s past actions, he is.
When you get married you weigh in all the “pro’s” and “con’s”. She didn’t know her husband already had kids, she would probably not have married him if she knew. He is not to blame because he also didn’t know, the ex is the only selfish one here. But now the situation is different and what you signed up for isn’t what you end up with. It’s totally fair she refuses to deal with a step child and an ex. It’s also something I would never want to deal with, so I never dated men with kids because I absolutely don’t want that. If you do, good for you, but understand that’s not for everyone.
