Typically it is the miss3 warmth of littermates that cause the issue as well. I’d fill a soda bottle or bladder with warm water and they had a warm space to snuggle down with, but yeah this seems too obvious.
OP if you didn’t know….one of the top three issues for insomnia, back issues, and body aches is poor sleeping due to a pet/child co sleeping. Either train the dog, get a bigger bed, do something to compromise

I can shed a bit of light on the cousin situation. My husband and BIL's cousin we will call Todd has a wife Mary. Mary, my BIL and Husband all worked together in a family owned company. My husband was the first to leave due to issues with the owner. My BIL inherited the company about a year later and Mary was in charge of HR. Well BIL can be very condescending and very short. SIL has never liked Mary for reasons unknown. Mary tried her best at her job but it was never enough for BIL. She would come ask a question and he would go out of his way to put her down and make her cry. It finally came to a head when Mary had to call BIL one night about something work related that had to be taken care of ASAP. BIL laid into Mary said she needed to figure it out and that she was ruining his marriage. She asked him how she ruined her marriage when she doesn't talk to him or SIL outside of work. He couldn't explain why and continued to berate her. Mary was able to talk him down and made sure he feel that the conversation ended well. Mary and Todd talked that night and decided it was time for her to quit. BIL was leaving on a trip the next morning so Mary emailed in her resignation. BIL and SIL called her a bitch and couldn't believe she would do that to them. My husband and I have heard both sides of the story and agree that the treatment of Mary was awful.
BIL and husband have talked one on one since counseling and BIL stands by that he and SIL are a package deal and either he has a relationship with both of them or neither of them. My SIL has lied about what really happened that morning and BIL refuses to listen to anyone or even consider that his wife was in the wrong. I'm of the opinion of it's my husband's relationship with BIL not mine and he can do as he pleases. I will not dictate his relationship with his brother.
Thanks for your response. That’s how I tried to explain it to him but he is unwilling to listen or accept the terms we initially agreed upon. I’m unsure if he has any legal recourse (or if I do). I’m just afraid what he will do to keep the cats. I don’t want to leave one let alone 3 but wanted to be fair.
You have not consented to this. He’s disrespecting you and your wishes. He is not a good partner. Put your foot down NOW. I’m not going to tell you to divorce him but if it were me, I’d be seeing a lawyer.
