We also did things like, if we used a sound to help her sleep, it was the same at both, even baby monitor was the same.
We used any blankets or whatever for a week at mums before transferring to mine.
But we were lucky, she is 4 in may, never cried at night, slept 12 hours straight, was cheeky as hell, when she woke up as a baby, as long as she saw one of our faces, she was over the moon.
She is probably more trouble now, can get cranky when tired, cracks it at my place asking to go back to mums, then if you say ok, she then wants to stay.
When she is at mums, she often wants to call Daddy to tell me stuff, like today she had a spinning lesson and planted a lady finger banana tree, she talks well, unless she is excited and it turns into jabber.
I'm in a western culture and my parents stayed in a hotel when they visited when i lived in a shared house or something or student accommodation, but I would feel super rude making them spend a fortune when I have room. As you say, hotels are really expensive.
