It's a boundaries issue, not necessarily a trust issue. I trust my boyfriend entirely, but I would not accept him living with another woman regardless of a long platonic history.
Btw, being good friends with someone does not mean you'll be compatible sharing a living space together. I've seen my share of friendships ending or suffering because they decided to live together.
I also think there's a level of understanding and deep knowledge of one another that is shared between queer people that can't be found in heterosexual partnerships.
