I travelled a bit for work on my previous job and sometimes felt things was better in the 80s and 90s when being abroad meant you were off the radar for the duration. Nowdays with phone and video chat you're supposed to not only be present for your partner/kids/family when you're gone but even more so to make up for being gone. It means that you're exhausted from being at work trying to not fuck up your job while in another culture and then you gotta be on call top talk about your partner's office politics.
I can't imagine being gone on the jobs for 9 weeks. It would take a toll on my mental health. So I could see a benign scenario where she just wants to be left alone for a bit.
But there's still things that reads as you guys not doing so well right now.
Quite frankly, I would have found it easier to forgive infidelity than to forgive such a cruel display of self absorbed garbage.
