First of all, it’s not “understandably” a shock to her. This has been in motion for a while and the logical breakup finally came to fruition. Breakups logically always hurt absolutely, but if it’s truly a “shock” to her then she’s either been willingly ignorant, or just legitimately ignorant.
The same applies to your initial break. It broke her, but logically it didn’t just happen for no reason. A series of events led to it. This is honestly what you should focus on the most; you took a “break,” nothing got fixed, and you had to end it.
In saying that, why do you have to support her? What do you honestly think you can even do or say to make her come to terms with reality? This was reality for a long time.

Sorry, my point is that, as most people are pointing out, doctors don't tend to allow IVF, unless many many other avenues are explored first, such as the many other procedures and tests other users are noting. And this story doesn't make sense as a result.
I'm saying this story sounds fake to me, because of the writers lack of understanding that IVF wouldn't be the suggestion made my doctors in this position, nor frankly, would it likely even be allowed at this point in their journey, let alone without serious counselling prior to now for professionals to seperate couples to ensure what's happening on this post, doesn't happen in real life.
I was once engaged to a woman with whom I had a dead bedroom with.
Then I was married that woman, and we still had a dead bedroom.
Now i'm divorced from that woman, and have been dating a different woman for over a decade, and we don't have a dead bedroom.
Learn from my experience, and save yourself the cost of a wedding and divorce.

Question – do you make a habit of lying? And if so is this the reason for his insecurities?
If they are, then he’s probably not going to come back, and sorry but you caused it.
If you don’t make a habit of lying, and his insecurities are just him not being emotionally mature enough to handle a relationship, then you should end it as you deserve better.
