It's safe to assume that he knew you couldn't be severely hurt from that fall. However, the VR headset could have been completely damaged.
Do the two of you have enough money to replace the headset easily and without causing financial hardship? If not, then he WAS worried about you but in a financial way.
The two situations you described are so vastly different from each other. Falling from a standing height and getting into a car crash aren't even in the same ball park. One sometimes leads to death, and the other routinely leads to death or dimemberment…
