yeah this unfortunately is true. My friend (and son of my parents friends) comes out as trans, everything is fine. When I did come out too it was a shitshow.
Same with being queer. My mom was even kinda suggesting that she’d be fine with me being gay or whatever, but when my parents figured I was actually in a gay relationship their actions didn’t match up with that “supportive statements”.
