Because it’s her friends birthday and she doesn’t take naps like that not even for 10 hours straight it makes me think that she was out with her friend but lied to me about it that’s why
Imo one of you needs to respect the other's opinion on this a bit more. I personally do not want a $10k ring and would also rather put that money in savings and just get a $1k ring at most, but your girlfriend is allowed to like and want the things that she likes and wants.
Does that mean she'll find a man willing to pay that much for a wedding ring, just to make her happy? No. But she's not wrong for wanting it. It's like someone wanting $1 million. Good luck with that, but like, not in a sarcastic way.
Anyways what I'm saying is, you should both be trying to see this from each other's perspective. Maybe she thinks of money/gifts as her love language, maybe she came from a family where this is normal, etc. But she should also try to think about it more strategically like you are and maybe understand that you can have a “cheap” ring that looks more expensive if you're smart about it.
Your girlfriend put her friend’s needs above the relationship.
It would’ve been one thing to ask you if she can invite her friend. But she did so without considering you or how it affects the relationship.
I’m even sure you’d have said “yes” or found some kind of compromise. Perhaps a separate event for when you got both back. But the simple act of asking for your thoughts and feelings would’ve changed the dynamic.
You need to have a serious conversation with your girlfriend about boundaries and priorities.
Some tips for a healthy conversation: use statements that start with “I feel” and avoid “you always/never”. Remember that despite being at fault here, your partner is still your teammate. The conversation should not be “me versus you”. It’s “us versus this situation”. You do that, and you can course correct.
