I have never had a patient who was newly diagnosed with diabetes who couldn't work and needed to be taken care of even if they were very much uncontrolled at diganosis. Sounds like she using it as an excuse or there is something else going on. This is definitely not normal. Most diabetics even on insulin continue à mostly normal life if they take care of themselves.
