4. Imo you majorly overreacted. While it’s true what happened to you was embarrassing, it is also the kind of embarrassing that builds the bonds of friendship. It could have been a story for the ages.

   The thing about embarrassment is that it is all about your reaction to others. When you say pooping is just a bodily function, you’re correct. That’s what makes the joke. It’s absurd to act like you’re the only person who has made a stinky shit… that’s what’s funny about the light ribbing you got.

   It sounds like they liked you enough to feel comfortable teasing you, but your insecurities instead had you blow up and escalate the situation even further. Changing your flight and leaving early is drastic.

   I don’t think your BF has any right to yell at you, but I think the situation did not need to go this far. You could have come out of the bathroom and called them all assholes who could never shit as smelly as you.
