You sound immature. I get leaving your marriage, that’s one thing. But jumping from one to another, especially someone you haven’t even done anything more than a trivial phone relationship with for a year, is foolish. You’re a mother. You have more to stand up for and think about. A musician’s lifestyle is not for a codependent couple with children from a previous relationship. I’d recommend re-thinking this whole thing and giving yourself more care, like therapy. Not couples therapy, but individual.
I'm afraid that you pay rent is irrelevant. Here they act no t as your landlords or co-renters but your parents.
They should accept that the lifestyle which they promote is not the only one and honestly not the best. The only way to avoid it is you moving out and cutting contacts. If you cannot get to agreement with them probably it's the only choice for you.

Sorry to drop in like this, but wanted to say something to you OP.
Talk to him. Being poor, not having a degree have nothing to do with the quality of a guy.
Sit him down, and discuss his long range goals. Maybe he needs direction in his life. Maybe a little guidance and understanding will enable him to go from “loser” to “a catch”. Give him a time table to meet. Create goals, and keep up on him to meet them.
If you like/love him, he deserves a fair shake. If he can't get out of first gear, then he will always be scrapping for minimum.
