I don't believe in forgiveness anymore. I believe it just absolves the one asking for it from feeling guilt, while their 'victims' are left with the baggage (even though forgiveness is supposed to help them to let it go). It just gives me the ick, and feels unsatisfying and cheap.
I do however believe in accepting the past, accepting it won't change, and accepting that we need to put the work in to fix it ourselves. No forgiveness bollocks, and no pressure being put on anyone else to make the one asking for it to feel better. They should work on themselves and leave their victims alone.
Just my thoughts anyway.
